Chocolate Chip Cookies with Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 16 oz. Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate, chopped (include crumbs or powder residue)
- 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
Preheat the Oven
- Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cream the Butter and Sugars
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Add Chocolate and Walnuts
- Add the chopped Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate to the creamed mixture. Include any small crumbs or powder residue for extra flavor.
- If desired, stir in the chopped walnuts.
Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder to ensure they are evenly distributed.
Mix Dry Ingredients into Creamed Mixture
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing to ensure your cookies remain tender.
Prepare Cookie Sheets
- Drop the cookie dough by golf ball-sized balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
Bake the Cookies
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 9 minutes or until the edges are just set but the centers are still soft. They will continue to cook slightly on the cookie sheet when removed from the oven.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy these decadently dark chocolate chip cookies with a rich flavor from the special dark chocolate and a satisfying crunch from optional walnuts! Perfect for sharing or indulging in a sweet treat yourself.
