The Art of Sharing Meals: A Family Tradition
I really don’t like the fact that we share meals. I think this is so funny. Um, what is wrong with ordering enough food for your family, whether it’s one meal or whether it’s six? If the restaurants are gonna serve such giant portions, why is it not okay to just get the appropriate amount of food for that meal, for that day, for our family and share it? I don’t see the problem here.
Me and my husband have shared a meal most of the time since we were very young. Eating out, for one, it saves money, and for two, the portions are just too big. Don’t mind my hair; we live in Texas, and it’s so humid I can’t keep it from getting frizzy, so I apologize on behalf of my hair. But just ignore it.
We have always done this with our family. When we order separate meals, the kids leave so much food, I leave so much food. There are even times when I’m like, “Dude, I’m hungry, let’s get this, let’s get that, let’s get this appetizer,” and then I’m like, “Yeah, we shouldn’t have ordered all that.” So I’m just—it’s not weird to just order what you’re gonna eat at a restaurant. I think it’s so funny that people are so weird about it. But that’s our life, so you can scroll on by if you don’t like it. Get some ideas, because we got lots of them from eating out over the years—just little hacks that we do or just places that serve giant portions.
